Analytics (Opt-Out)

We use privacy-friendly, first-party analytics to understand which stories readers enjoy and how the site is performing. Analytics are enabled by default for all visitors unless you click Reject analytics in the cookie banner (or clear the lo_consent value in your browser storage). We record aggregate, anonymous events only — page views, article views, card clicks, category views, share clicks, and similar interactions — together with a randomly generated visitor and session identifier stored in your browser, the page URL, referrer, user-agent, and a coarse country/region derived from your IP by our hosting provider. We do not collect your name or email through analytics, we do not sell analytics data, we do not use it for cross-site advertising, and we do not share it with third-party ad networks. Rejecting analytics stops all of these events from being recorded for your browser.

Third-Party Services

We may use Substack, analytics providers, email marketing providers, advertising networks, and affiliate networks. Each maintains its own privacy policy.

Data Security

Reasonable measures are used to protect collected information. No internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

Anti-Spam & Anti-Bot Protection

To keep scrapers, bots, and abusive automated traffic from overwhelming the Lodge, we count the number of distinct articles each anonymous visitor reads in a rolling 30-day window. The count is tied to a short-lived combination of your IP address and a hash of your browser's user-agent and language headers — never a name or email. After 3 free articles we ask you to create a free Lodge account to keep reading. Signed-in members are not counted. This is the same kind of soft metering used by news publishers like The Epoch Times, and exists purely to deter abuse — it is not advertising, profiling, or third-party tracking.
